Lot number: 064-4208

Winning bid: £17,500

The oldest single malt whisky ever bottled. This incredible whisky was nurtured and cared for over 75 years by whisky legends Gordon & MacPhail. Cask number 2475 was filled on the 17th of November 1939 on the instructions of John Urquhart, who was the first member of the family to be involved in Gordon & MacPhail.

Four generations of the Urquhart family watched over the cask until it was finally bottled in 100 individual, handmade Glencairn crystal decanters. The decanters have 75 hand-carved grooves in them representing the 75 years the whisky spent in this one of a kind cask.

The decanter sits on a white presentation plinth and has two specially-designed crystal glasses with which to enjoy your dram. The decanter comes in an airline leather travel bag and is accompanied by a specially-commissioned book by Charles Maclean and Alexander McCall Smith.

This lot includes a sample box containing a 1cl dram of the precious liquid and another glass to enjoy it from.
