Glen Grant Collection Gordon & MacPhail 6 x 70cl
Lot number: 081-3383
Winning bid: £6,800
Founded in 1895, Gordon & MacPhail has been bottling single malt whiskies for 120 years and by the 1950s it held the largest range of bottled malt whiskies in the world. This family-run business has bottled the oldest single malt whisky in the world as well as being a distiller itself after buying Benromach in 1993.
Glen Grant apparently comes "From the Heath Covered Mountains of Scotia". Founded in 1840 by brothers James and John Grant, in 1861 they were the first to install electric light in the distillery. It remains the biggest selling single malt in Italy and in 2006 the distillery was bought by Campari for £115 million.
These six ancient siblings were all distilled in the first few years of the 1950's. Having been bottled separately since the turn of the century, they were then collated into this epic set which measures a combined 353 years old!
