Described by Gordon & Macphail as a "greatly aged whisky", this Macallan has a rich mahogany hue from its long ageing in sherry hogsheads. Quite incredible when you think what this whisky has slept through in just over 70 years of maturation; the end of World War II, the Coronation of Queen Elizabeth II, 16 Prime Ministers, the invention of the internet (and birth of your favourite whisky auction site)...
