The Highland distillery of Knockdhu was built in 1877, marking the genesis of The Distillers Company (DCL), who would later evolve into industry giant Diageo. Used almost exclusively as blending stock, it didn't become known as a single malt until its first official expression - under the new ownership of Inver House - was released onto the market in 1990.
After a short time, the rather wise decision was taken to create the brand name “anCnoc”; and while its pronunciation may not be immediately obvious, it had the desired effect of avoiding confusion with Knockando.
This bottle celebrates the 125th anniversary of the distillery. Released at cask strength for the first time, this bottle represents a modern representation of the distillery's traditional methods.
