Macallan 1946 52 Year Old Select Reserve With Certificate and Keys
Lot number: 152-02012
Winning bid: £10,000
This Macallan really looks the part, presented in a simple and understated locking wooden box. Which could coming in handy for keeping this beauty away from prying eyes.
This whisky was distilled in 1946, but what else was going on in that year? Well, the world was still recovering from the end of WWII, Clement Attlee was the Prime Minister here in the UK, and 1946 was the year Dolly Parton was born. Music choices would have been Nat King Cole, Frank Sinatra, Perry Como... Seems a little more civilised than today's twerking we think! All of this being before the internet, computers, PPI claims and One Direction. Gosh, we're suddenly feeling old.
But back to the whisky... It has been waiting patiently in a sherry cask for 52 years prior to being bottled. No fancy packaging or bling, this is one classy act. We would say that it's a must have for Macallan collectors but that's too obvious. This is a bottle for connoisseurs of whisky.
