This release hails from the era before, seemingly, everyone in the whisky world was hunting for Karuizawa. The distillery was under ownership by Mercian Wine Company. At that time they were part of the "big three" in Japan, along with Nikka and Suntory.
At that time most of the releases from the distillery were part of blends, appearing under the guise of "Sanraku Ocean". This is a rare chance to get your hands on an early Karuizawa bottling.
