Janet Sheed Roberts was the matriarch of the Grant family, who own and run William Grant & Sons Ltd, one of the last independent whisky distillers in Scotland. Janet, who was known as 'Wee Janie' to family and friends, was the last surviving granddaughter of William Grant, who founded Glenfiddich Distillery in 1886. She died in 2012.
There have been 5 Hazelwood bottlings, but this, first bottling, is by far the rarest of the set. Presented in a Cognac style bottle for her 90th birthday in 1991, unlike the other bottles in this range, this one was never released to market and was only available to her family and key staff at William Grant's.
The whisky is created from a blend of 90 casks and was bottled at 90 proof.
The seller of this bottle tells us that Janet presented the bottle to them personally.
Bottled: August 1991
90° Proof / 75cl
