Lot number: 064-3095
Winning bid: £50
William Grant founded Balvenie distillery in 1892 using the 18th century mansion known as Balvenie New House. It is built just below Glenfiddich sharing it's Robbie Dhu springs water source. The distillery still uses it's own floor maltings and locally sourced peat.
Caribbean Cask:
This Balvenie has been aged for 14 years in traditional casks and then spent a period of time in Caribbean rum casks, to give a rather fruity and vanilla flavour to the whisky.
Age: 14 years old
Cask Type: Traditional oak, with finishing in Caribbean rum casks
43% ABV / 5cl x 5
DoubleWood:
Aged in traditional American oak barrels and then transferred into European Oak sherry casks. The extra 5 years maturation have transformed the already great 12 year old, giving it deep vanilla notes and a great richness.
Age: 17 years old
Cask Type: American oak and European sherry oak
43% ABV / 5cl x 5
