Dalmore Candela 50 Year Old
Lot number: 065-1537
Winning bid: £15,000
Dalmore distillery was used as a deep-sea mine production centre by the Royal Navy between 1917 and 1920. After the navy departed, the distillery was left in tatters, and after a long compensation battle, involving the House of Lords, the distillery was brought back online.
Now Dalmore, under the stewardship of Richard Patterson, presents itself as a luxury brand, with some of its bottlings among the most expensive in the world.
Named after the international unit of measurement of the intensity of light, the Candela contains spirit dating back to 1868! The full set of vintages used to create this spectacular whisky are, 1868, 1878, 1909, 1922, 1939 and 1951.
Considered by Dalmore as one of its Legendary Releases, only 77 of these wonderful decanters were produced. Each has been handcrafted and set with solid silver fixtures.
