Balvenie 1952 50 Year Old Single Cask #191
Lot number: 073-2108
Winning bid: £23,000
William Grant founded Balvenie distillery in 1892 using the 18th-century mansion known as Balvenie New House. It is built just below Glenfiddich, sharing its Robbie Dhu springs water source. The distillery still uses its own floor maltings and locally-sourced peat.
At the time of bottling, this was the oldest whisky Balvenie had ever released. Drawn from a single Sherry cask and bottled at a still healthy cask strength of 45.1%, this is the kind of whisky most of us can only dream of tasting.
