The 81st Auction

We hope everyone has been enjoying the festive period, and that you've not all overindulged to the point of never wanting to see another bottle of whisky ever again. That would be a shame, because we've got quite a lot of it waiting to be won in this mammoth auction.

 

One of the many highlights of this auction has to be this collection of Glen Grant from Gordon & MacPhail. Released earlier in 2017, just 75 sets exist in the world, and with vintages ranging from 1950 to 1955 (making the youngest whisky 57 years old!), this really is a slice of liquid history.

 

Fellow Speyside distillery, Balvenie, is also extremely well represented this month; and in addition to having not one, but two Tun 1401 Batch #1 bottles, there's a whole host of vintage single cask expressions available in this auction. The highlight of these is probably this 1971 vintage, but there are plenty more to choose from, making this a bumper month for any budding Balvenie collectors.

 

It's hard not to notice the bumper crop of Macallans available too, but instead of focusing on official bottlings, and the inevitable plethora of a certain new release (you know the one we mean), we've decided to draw your attention to some of the great independently bottled expressions. This stunning sherried beauty from That Boutique-y Whisky Co is one of only 31 bottles in the world, and a must have for fans of either Macallan or Boutique-y. Alternatively this 1965 vintage 35 Year Old from Signatory would make for a very interesting tasting companion to some of the official releases.

 

We know there are plenty of Springbank fans out there, and with expressions from the Campeltown distillery seemingly more collectable than ever, now is probably a great time to get your paws on the stellar 50 Year Old from their Millennium collection. Or, how about this monster from Cadenhead's, distilled in 1964? Yummy.
