Malt Mill 1959 10 Year Old James MacArthur's Mini 5cl
Lot number: 082-0694
Winning bid: £3,400
There is a lot of folk lore surrounding the Malt Mill distillery, built in 1908 on the same site as Lagavulin on Islay. It's short life came to an end in 1962 when the last production creaked to a halt. Malt Mill was intended for use in blends, and therefore is near-never seen in a pure bottling such as this. Referenced and held in high revere in the Glasgow-based film 'The Angel's Share', Malt Mill is the unicorn of drams as it were, this bottling is by James MacArthur's.
As a disclaimer, we here at SWA must say that we have had our experts scrutinise this mystical little wonder, and it is impossible to comment either way as to whether it is what it says on the tin. This, of course, adds to the esoteric awe and contemplation associated with this lot. It is ultimately up to the bidders to set the tone!
