Absolut Vodka Selfridges 100 Edition
Lot number: 095-1833
Winning bid: £70
Produced in Åhus in southern Sweden, Absolut source all their ingredients - such as winter wheat and pure water - from the local region and operate under a community- and environment-friendly ethos to create one of the most well-known brands of vodka in the world. Establishing the company in 1879, Lars Olsson Smith found a way around the Swedish government's liquor monopoly by selling his vodka just outside Stockholm; therefore allowing him to sell it at a cheaper price.
Thanks to their advertising links to Carillon Importers, Absolut have not only cemented their brand in the US but they have also had access to the work of great painters and designers like Andy Warhol to promote their product.
Absolut released this bottling to celebrate the centenary of Selfridges department store which opened in 1909.
