The 97th Auction

Welcome all to our 97th auction... the long weekend has come and gone, we're all a bit sunburnt and Spring has finally arrived. Full of treats and without further ado, we've got an Easter egg hunt for you!

Well what have we here? A Bowmore 1966 50 Year Old bottled the same year the Islay distillery first officially marketed its whisky as a single malt and the year former manager at Bowmore, Eddie MacAffer joined the team. Honouring his fifty years of service, this fantastic 50 Year Old dram is presented in a handmade decanter with silver decoration boxed in a rustic Scottish oak case. With less than a hundred bottles released, this fruity number is both rare and tasty.

Next up, we have another mature beauty; this time hailing from Speyside and the valley of the green grass - a Glenfarclas 1961 presented in a Glencairn crystal decanter. A heavily sherried rich-coloured whisky distilled over half a century ago and bottled in the 1990s into only 250 decanters, this one is definitely worth a look. If you like your Glenfarclas old and in a crystal decanter, why not also check out this Glenfarclas 50 Year Old, one of only eighty seven bottles yielded from the cask.

As the Cherry Blossoms come into bloom here in Scotland, it seems only right to show off a classy Japanese whisky. The Karuizawa 1993 25 Year Old The Crowning Cask aptly claims its name as the final cask of the Vintage Series; bottled for the Japanese market, released in partnership with the Mitsukoshu Isetan department store from the stocks Number One Drinks acquired after the distillery's closure.

We started with Islay and we'll circle back around to finish with Islay with this Port Ellen 1978 39 Year Old. Part of the newly released Port Ellen Untold Stories Series and acting as an exploration into the innovation of the iconic lost Islay distillery - set to be reopened in 2021 - this is the first exclusive release of the oldest liquid from original Port Ellen stock. It's so exceptional, it comes with two keys to unlock separate parts of the case.
