Jack Daniel's Monogram 3 x 75cl
Lot number: 098-03065
Winning bid: £800
Jack Daniel's is a brand of sour mash Tennessee whiskey that is the highest selling American whiskey in the world. It is produced in Lynchburg, Tennessee by the Jack Daniel's Distillery, which has been owned by the Brown-Forman Corporation since 1956. Despite being the location of a major operational distillery, Jack Daniel's home county of Moore is a dry county, so the product is not available for consumption at stores or restaurants within the county.
Although the product generally meets the regulatory criteria for classification as a straight bourbon, the company disavows this classification and markets it simply as Tennessee whiskey rather than as Tennessee bourbon.
From the website, 'It is said that Jack Daniel served whiskey to his closest friends from his own personal fine glass monogrammed decanters. These decanters were reserved for special occasions and it was with this in mind that the Jack Daniel Distillery released the 750ml Monogram bottle in 2009. Filled with 94 proof whiskey, this bottle was sold with no hang tag, but came in an attractive silver and black box.'
All three versions of the Monogram bottle are nearly identical with slight variations in the design of their caps. The first international version from 1998 came with a smooth silver cap. Then 2004, with the next international release, the cap remained silver in colour but had a ribbed surface. Finally, with the U.S. release of the Monogram bottle in 2009, the cap stayed ribbed but changed from sliver to black.
