In its short life - founded in 1973 - Braeval has seen its name change from the Braes of Glenlivet, had three extra stills added and spent 6 years being mothballed. There are no official bottlings from the distillery and it rarely crops up in independent bottlers' portfolios either. Fully automatic, the distillery can be operated by one person but it is still capable of producing 4 million litres of spirit a year. Since 2017 - when the owners Chivas Brothers finally bottled some - we are now able to buy a Braeval single malt!
Chivas Brothers have created a Distillery Reserve series and a special Cask Strength range uniquely available at distillery visitor centres. The expressions are bottled at cask strength to offer the enthusiast something different from the core range bottlings usually offered by Chivas Brothers: a special reward for fans prepared to make the pilgrimage.
