The 108th Auction

Welcome to our 108th auction! On behalf of everybody here at SWA we would like to thank everyone for your incredible patience and understanding throughout this difficult time. We have a wide variety to choose from this month in a hope to keep your spirits up in more ways than one.

Let’s start on a high with a bottle of Glen Grant 1963 50 Year Old. This golden oldie has been maturing in a sherry butt before being selected by the same man who filled it, Dennis Malcolm; now master distiller. The beautifully presented bottle is shaped like the stills of Glen Grant, decorated with 18 carat gold and is enclosed in a Scottish oak box. She’s a real treat for anybody aesthetically attuned.

Staying in the Club 50, we have a bottle of Glenfiddich 50 Year Old. When the Grant family refers to a malt as an heirloom you know it has to be something truly special! Married from two casks and matured in American oak barrels for 6 months before bottling, every detail of this bottle represents the pinnacle of whisky craftsmanship. With a hand-blown bottle and black leather stitched box, this could be the crowning glory of any collection.

An old regular but always a popular bottle is the Glenfarclas 1953 58 Year Old. Few whiskies of this age are still available and even Glenfarclas have no remaining 1953 stalk left. The #1674 Cask was sold exclusively through Wealth Solutions and was chosen unanimously by a select panel to be bottled!

Now a little homage to the Feis Ile. Sadly due to the current circumstances the Feis Ile whisky festival on Islay won’t be physically happening this year however if you haven’t found out already, then check out their Website and social media to find out more and join in with the virtual festivities.

We always like to sift through and find some odd, old and rare little curve balls for you. One bottle that fits the bill is Crawford’s Old Irish Whisky. This half bottle of Crawford's Special Old Irish Whisky was bottled before the Irish distillers and blenders adopted the 'e' in their whiskey. Hailing from the turn of the 19th to 20th centuries, this bottle has a driven cork and a lead capsule and wonderful fill level for a bottle of its age.

Last but certainly not least we also have one of the oldest bottles of Rosebank to come through our doors. This 1962 Rosebank was bottled by Robert Stewart and Son and would be a great chance to try some of the oldest remaining spirits from the mothballed distillery.
