Built to provide whisky for the Teacher's blend in 1898, this Highlander's main production is a peated whisky, but there is also a non-peated version called Ardlair (Ardless is its nickname) which accounts for around 40% of its output. Due to how prominent and significant its role as a base for a blend is, Ardmore is rarely found as a single malt, but a determined few followers seek it out as an independent bottling.
This Ardmore has been bottled by North Star. Founded in 2016 by former A. D. Rattray brand ambassador Iain Croucher, North Star is an independent bottler of fine whiskies, gins, rums and bourbons. The Glasgow based company produces only small batch releases without chill filtration and at the healthy strength they come out the cask.
