Ardbeg Feis Ile 2015 Perpetuum - Charity Lot
Lot number: 112-00529
Winning bid: £75
Given the success and cult-like fan base that Ardbeg has recently enjoyed, it is almost impossible to imagine that the distillery was closed, on and off, for 15 years until it was purchased by Glenmorangie. Sitting on the southern coast line, the current distillery was founded in 1815, the original having been destroyed by excise men. The Ardbeg spirit still is fitted with a purifier which many believe accounts for its fruity, zesty character.
This was the second, wide-scale release of Perpetuum by Ardbeg. Released during the Feis Ile and for Ardbeg Day this has a different look and a slightly lower ABV than the one available solely at the distillery.
Despite the lower strength the same notes of dark chocolate, sea-spray and pine resin are still here as is the promise that, "Ardbeg will never be automated or simulated."
This lot has been donated by Ardbeg Distillery (the Glenmorangie Company) and is being offered to raise money for, whisky photographer, Brett Ferencz aka Scotch Trooper, who has sadly been diagnosed with Pancreatic Cancer. Brett will likely be familiar to whisky fans on Instagram thanks to his cleverly composed photographs featuring Star Wars action figures enjoying a few drams.
100% of the hammer price from this lot will go towards paying for his treatment.
