Macallan Royal Marriage, Coronation & Diamond Jubilee With Old And New Boxes
Lot number: 121-00988
Winning bid: £11,000
Royal Marriage
Only 1000 bottles were released to celebrate the wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton. The release is a marriage of two casks - a 1996 and 1999 both filled on 29th April, the day of the royal marriage. This is after Macallan released a royal marriage whisky for the marriage of Prince Charles and Lady Diana Spencer in 1981.
In keeping with this original bottling, Macallan commissioned the creative force behind the 1981 bottle, David Holmes, who was also one of the architects of the advertising campaign in the 1980s and the early 1990s, to create the label and packaging design.
46.8% ABV / 70cl
Coronation
This limited edition commemorative bottling comprises two 35cl bottles of Macallan housed in a box designed by David Holmes. The first bottle conveys the Queen as she was in 1953 and the second honours the monarch she has become today.
The two images on the bottles were taken by Cecil Beaton and Julian Calder respectively.
There were just 1953 of these fantastic collectors’ editions released for sale in the UK.
