A quite magnificent and stunning 50 year old Glenfiddich, distilled in 1939. The Glenfiddich 50 year old is regarded as one of the finest single malts and is one of the ten most expensive whiskies in the world.
Cask numbers 844, 845, 846 and 847 were filled on 17th July 1937 and casks 1044, 1046, 1047 and 1048 were filled on 25th November 1939. One cask, 1111, was filled on 14th December 1939.
They were all taken from Warehouse No 11 for vatting - No 90/3034. Having been returned to the cask for over a year to allow the whisky to marry, on the 26th July 1991, the whisky was finally bottled.
The label is signed by Alexander Grant Gordon, chairman of the company and great-grandson of William Grant.
Includes scroll authenticating the spirit and deeming the bearer to be a `Freeman of the Glenfiddich Distillery`. Whoever wins this bottle at auction will have those rights transferred.
This lot also contains a wooden presetation case and a certificate which is signed by Stuart Dickerson, Distillery Manager, Peter Duncan, Chief Distiller, G Head Cooper, D Robertson, Warehouse Manager and A M Head Maltman
