I.W Harper is a Kentucky straight bourbon, named "Gold Medal" due to the numerous awards it won in the late 1800s. The brand shut down under prohibition, but was later resurrected by United Distillers.
This historic bourbon was distilled during World War 1 but due to the introduction of Prohibition in The United States these whiskies were only allowed for medicinal use until it was repealed in 1933. Medicinal liquor was prescribed by doctors at the time which was then exploited by bootleggers.
