The Macallan distillery was founded in 1824 by Alexander Reid, a barley farmer and school teacher. Now owned by the Edrington Group, The Macallan prides itself on its Six Pillars, which include its curiously small stills, very narrow 'cut' of new make spirit and exceptional cask management. It is the most sought after whisky for collectors, regularly setting records at auctions all round the world.

A Night on Earth in Scotland
Macallan really love a collaboration, or two. This time they’ve teamed up with artist Erica Dorn, who’s work will be familiar to fans of Wes Anderson’s films. Together they have created a whisky, and packaging, that celebrates Hogmanay, Scotland’s famous New Year celebrations. The packaging design takes inspiration from fire rituals associated with the celebration, as well as the Scottish concept of “first footing”: being the first to visit a friend or neighbour after “the bells”, preferably carrying a bottle of whisky and some shortbread.
