Talisker 44 Year Old Forests Of The Deep For Parley
Lot number: 134-02813
Winning bid: £2,900
Talisker was founded by two brothers, Hugh and Kenneth MacAskill in 1830 and until 1928 practised triple distillation. The distillery was rebuilt after being destroyed by fire in November 1960, including commissioning identical stills to those that had been destroyed in the fire. In 1998 it was part of Diageo's Classic Malts original line up and in 2014 it became the 10th best selling single malt in the world and demand keeps growing. Recent releases include Talisker Skye and Talisker Neist Point.
This release, with Parley for the Oceans, who are Talisker’s partner in ocean conservation was produced after an expedition to one of the world’s largest sea kelp forests near the Cape of Good Hope.
Using Talisker cask staves, this was charred using a small amount of sustainably sourced Scottish sea kelp and stave wood shavings. This whisky was then finished in these marine oak casks before bottling.
