Lot number: 145-01580
Winning bid: £900
The Macallan distillery was founded in 1824 by Alexander Reid, a barley farmer and school teacher. Now owned by the Edrington Group, The Macallan prides itself on its Six Pillars, which include its curiously small stills, very narrow 'cut' of new make spirit and exceptional cask management. It is the most sought after whisky for collectors, regularly setting records at auctions all round the world.
A new £140 million subterranean distillery and visitor centre on the Easter Elchies estate was opened to the public in the summer of 2018 and has since won several awards for its architectural quality; with its exciting features including glass walls of vintage whiskies, a circular pod of copper pot stills, and a Boutique reflecting those in Dubai and Heathrow airports.
Folio 6
Available only from the distillery and with a beautifully illustrated hardback book, The Archival Series continues to rediscover Macallan advertisements from the 1970's, 80's, and 90's. This continuation in the series features an advert for “The Chairman” as a Scotsman dancing the Highland fling over a pen and brush, the symbols of the advertising team of Holmes and Salaman. The Macallan Chairman of the time, Allan Shiach was known to suggest the occasional idea to the brand's creative team. With some misgivings, the admen chose to feature the Chairman himself in their response to the gauntlet he had thrown down.
The book contains a USB stick continuing the advertising archive.
Cask Type: Sherry Oak

Please note minor dent to tin
Please note there is an issue with the Folio packaging, where the retaining clips that hold the book in place have a tendency to break in transit. This is because some are made of fragile plastic, as opposed to the metal. Scotch Whisky Auctions cannot guarantee that these will arrive intact if shipped. The quality of the tin is extremely fragile and prone to denting.
Please note that this lot is a large item. Additional delivery charges may be payable.
