In late 2011, The Macallan commissioned the world's best known photographer - Annie Leibovitz - to shoot a creative campaign featuring Scottish actor Kevin McKidd (Grey's Anatomy). This creative campaign is framed around 'The Macallan. The Last Word.' and reflects a 'day in the life' of McKidd , enjoying The Macallan at different times, with different moods/ occasions.
This, the third in the series after Rankin and Albert Watson, takes the Masters of Photography platform to a new level. The shoot took place in New York in December 2011. Leibovitz took four iconic shots. Each having inspired the creation of four whiskies reflecting the mood of the image they accompany.
The location for 'The library' shot has a direct link to Scotland. The house was named after Sir Walter Scott's ballad, 'Rokeby' and the library was modelled on the one at Sir Walter Scott's house in Abbotsford in the Scottish borders.
The Library is the strongest of the exclusive single casks , and starts with hints of raisin, sultana, orange and chocolate all at once before a crisp following of apple, ginger and long, sharp oak notes.
