Dalmore 1926 50 Year Old
Lot number: 145-05223
Winning bid: £14,500
Dalmore distillery was used as a deep-sea mine production centre by the Royal Navy between 1917 and 1920. After the navy departed, the distillery was left in tatters, and - after a long compensation battle involving the House of Lords - the distillery was brought back online in 1922. Now Dalmore, under the stewardship of Richard Paterson, presents itself as a luxury brand with a history of wealthy backers, with some of its bottlings among the most expensive in the world.
This incredible whisky was distilled in 1926, and bottled 50 years later. 1926 was the year when John Logie Baird publicly showed his invention the Television, it was the height of prohibition in the United States, and the year that the great Houdini passed away.
