Founded in 1954, Makers Mark is a family run distillery. The ‘SIV’ symbol stamped on the bottle symbolises the family ownership, ‘S’ stands for the Samuels family. ‘IV’ states that Bill Sr was the 4th generation distiller. years later, Bill Jr discovered his father was actually a 6th generation distiller.
Makers Mark don’t mind sharing exactly what goes into their spirit, 70% Corn, 16% Soft Red Winter Wheat and 14% Malted Barley.
Sealing each bottle is a time consuming task as each bottle is hand-dipped into their signature red wax, and has been since 1958.
