In honour of the four servicemen and women who have been wounded while serving in the armed forces and are brave enough to take part in a 335km race to the South Pole, battling -35 degree temperatures and 100mph crosswinds, Glenfiddich have produced the 29 Year Old 'Spirit of a Nation' whisky.
'Spirit of a Nation' was distilled in 1984 and spent the majority of its 29 year-long maturation in a refill sherry cask. In the Summer of 2013, the whisky was finished in a special cask which visited events around the UK in support of the Walking With The Wounded UK South Pole Challenge team. Messages wishing the team good luck were written directly onto the cask, which then returned to the Glenfiddich distillery for three months before it was bottled.
Glenfiddich 'Spirit of a Nation' is a limited release of 250 bottles. The distillery will be donating all profits made from these bottles to Walking With The Wounded. The Walking With The Wounded South Pole Challenge team took two bottles with them on their journey. One of these bottles will be up for auction to raise more money for the charity.
All in all, an exceptional and very rare hand-selected Glenfiddich.
